Bubba Dowling Biography

Bubba Dowling has been married to his wife, Heather for 14 years. They have five children, Anna, Nathan, Luke, Esther and Miriam. They are in full time ministry now, but their lives haven’t always been this way. Their story can be summed up something like this: “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish!”
Bubba was known as the “short, fat kid” in school, being made fun of on a regular basis. That was easy to handle compared to the ridicule he received at home from his dad. “You’re so lazy!” “You’re dumb!” “You’re worthless!” These were all words spoken over Bubba on a regular basis that helped get him to the point of wanting to commit suicide in 8th Grade.
By the time Bubba was willing to give his life up to the Lord, he had tried every thing you can imagine to fill the emptiness he felt inside. By God’s grace Bubba and his family have now been involved in full time ministry since 2008. Bubba has had the opportunity to travel all over the United States and to 8 countries with two strongman evangelistic teams, sharing his story of transformation and healing while sharing the love of Jesus. While traveling he has witnessed 10s of thousands of people make public commitments to Jesus Christ. Bubba currently serves as a Chaplain, for football, through the FCA at a public high school near Kansas City, MO, and is also the football team’s strength and conditioning coach. He also heads up the men’s ministry at his home church in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Measuring 6’3” and weighing in at 395 lbs, Bubba holds state and regional Powerlifting Records in various federations, and American and World Records in the AAU.
According to www.powerliftingwatch.com Bubba is currently ranked:
  • 11th in the Bench Press @ 740 pounds
  • 11th in the Total @ 2232 pounds
  • 22nd in the Squat @ 821 pounds
  • (all in the Super Heavy Weight Division)
Topics he may cover include:
  • Father Heart of God
  • Overcoming adversity
  • Restoration after a physical injury
  • Who you REALLY are in Christ
  • Dangers of alcohol, drugs and sex (youth)
  • Strongman Evangelistic Outreaches
  • MAN UP-Being a Dad, being a Husband
  • Bench Press Seminars

2012 Here We Come!!

2012 is almost here and we are EXCITED!

2011 was a strange year for us. It can be summed up in three words: transition, transition, transition. We traveled less (we saw over 10,000 publicly accept the Lord), worked more, connected with more people one-on-one, had LOTS of meetings :), did lots of 4th grade home work and our fare share of 1st grade projects, played barbies, played football......we got grounded. "Get grounded." That was a word from the Lord to our family, which was confirmed several times for 2011.
Now that we feel grounded and somewhat "normal", the Lord is showing us MANY ways we can make an "IMPACT" in 2012! "IMPACT" is the word the Lord has given us for 2012 and it has been confirmed in many ways! SO EXCITING!

Here is one example: One Wednesday night, during prayer and fasting at our home church, Pastor was praying over Bubba and he heard the word "impact". He said he knew it wasn't Impact World Tour (and Team Xtreme), because we were confident that we were done with that part of our lives. We had a couple other ideas of what the Lord might be talking about, but none set well in our spirits.
About two weeks later Bubba received a phone call from a guy we have known for about 10 years, Tom Stamman. He said he was lifting in Bubba's home town of Ottumwa, Iowa, when Bubba's name came up. Then later that same day, Tom was working on his phone and Bubba's number was the first one to come up. He decided he really needed to give Bubbba a call see what was up. They began visiting about our ministry, "How are your bookings? Are you doing a lot of ministry and  how are you doing it?..."
Well, to hear the end of the story check out www.tstamman.com, scroll to the bottom of the home page and click on Professional Athletes for Christ.
By the way, Tom's ministry is called IMPACT Ministries International! :)

Another new thing for 2012 is BUBBA AND I GETTING ORDAINED! By the end of this December we will both be official. This just sounds CRAZY! :) If you know our stories and where we have come from, you will understand why this is amazing! God is able to do imeasureably more then all we ask or imagine! (Eph 3:20)

Right now, we are starting our own ministry under the local YWAM base here in Kansas City (YWAM Heartland). We are struggling to nail down the name. If you have any suggestions, shoot them our way!
Starting in January, Bubba will be traveling more often on shorter trips, mostly stateside, teaching, preaching and doing strong man events. We have several events already booked for 2012 and with IMI's booking agents (5 of them) we should be able to keep hoppin'!
Bubba is also heading up the men's ministry at our church and and speaking at our Youth Group very often.  He is also working with a local private gym to "mentor" young athletes in weight training and in KNOWING THE LORD!
Exciting things ahead! Feel free to contact us with any questions, encouragement or to book us! :)

                   Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
Bubba, Heather, Anna, Nathan, Luke, Esther and Miriam

740 BABY!

Bubba completed his first competition in Power Lifting today in Branson, MO after 4 1/2 years!

His goal was to hit an 800 bench. He missed that, but got 740lb for a personal record to win the

Super Heavy Weight Single Ply Men's Open Division! (That's a mouth full!)

Now he is heading to Oklahoma on the 22nd of October for another meet. Possibly a new PR?  We'll

Rambling (you can blame Holy Spirit) ;-)

What's up with trying to think through all this mess, well not exactly mess, but detail up on detail with a worldly or physical or natural mind. I'm no spring chicken at this following Jesus thing, and I don't know that I've changed a bit when it comes to listening then obeying God's voice.
I want to be better. I want to move quicker. I NEED to hear, move, obey faster. But, do I? Maybe. Sometimes.
*Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, period.
*I know your voice. I hear your call. I obey (it's really not a bad word)
*I love God and I love people. That's the center of the mark.
     Loving youuuuuuuu......

Jobs, jobs....work, work, work!

Bubba and I are looking for employment, a job, WORK! We are looking for full time or part time, depending on the hours/shift.
Got any ideas? Know of any need for a large man that can break stuff REALLY well? Heard of any openings in the human services field? How about greeting staff or sales?  We are open to all options, but seeking the PERFECT job for missionaries that need to fill in the gap between monthly support and what we need to keep running this CRAZY race we're in! :)
Give us a hollar with any IDEAS!!!!

What's on the BBQ? THE DOWLINGS!

Kansas City is HOT!

But not as hot as the deals the Lord is cookin' up with the Dowling Family!

First up on the BBQ is Bubba:
  • 1. He is now the Chaplain for the Grandview High School Football Team through FCA!
  • 2. He is Personal Training and looking for another 9 clients to have a full load!
  • 3. He has met with our Pastor about leading the Men's Ministry at our church, verdict coming soon!
  • 4. He is serving Team Xtreme by doing local outreaches!
  • 5. And, he is praying about serving a sports ministry in Egypt for a week this fall!
Next up on the BBQ is Heather:
  • 1. She has applied for a job at a local gym to work the front desk 5 AM to 12!
  • 2. She is researching, reading, and gleaning wisdom on starting a small shop called          "More than Rubies".
  • 3. She is stepping into the role of family spiritual warrior she is called to be!
  • 4. And, she is praying about starting a ladies ministry through our church!
Lastly we have our kids in the hot seat:
  • Anna's broken arm is healing nicely! She is missing out on summer swimming, but she's handling it well. She is going to be having a complete oral exam (sedated) Friday.
  • Nathan is planning on playing soccer this fall and starts 4th grade in 15 days!
  • Luke is mastering his artistic skills while killing bad guys and handing out sweet smiles and kisses as needed. He will be starting 1st grade in 15 days!
  • Esther was blessed with a BIG GIRL BED! She is currently focusing on buying "lips" and getting her ears pierced in the near future.
  • Miriam-Bella is becoming quit the climber (out of her bed, that is), enjoys swinging and has got quit the attitude when saying, "Moooom!" or "Daaaaaaad!" haha
As you can see things are heating up around here! It's a great place to be (on the BarB) rather than in the cooler waiting to get in the action. Please pray with us for the streams of income to open up WIDE! We are seeing the Lord blow the coals to full flame!

Thank you for being in the fire with us!!!

Bubba, Heather, Anna, Nathan, Luke, Esther and Miriam

Wake up to War!

I have been praying for our state, Missouri, for a while now. I pray for our ministry. I pray for our finances. I pray for our children.....Don't I?
When I look at how much passion I put into waring for our kids, I'm ashamed! I hurt for them. WHO ELSE IS GONNA WAR FOR THEM?!!
I have repented for fighting for their lives with such slack.... My heart has broken today for them, all 5! Bring restoration Lord! Please, Father, move your spirit in them! Show them your power, love, jealously! Move their hearts to yours, Lord!

The Lord brought me to this scripture this morning. Look at how this ruler, called for the nation to press into God's heart. And you know what, THEY DID IT! ALLL OF THEM! I am WARING for my kids!!!

Today is a new day for our children, all 5. They are being carried to the very thrown of God, by Jesus AND me!

2 Chronicles 20:1-18
After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites[a] came to wage war against Jehoshaphat.

2 Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom,[b] from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. 4 The people of Judah came together to seek help from the LORD; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
5 Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the LORD in the front of the new courtyard 6 and said:
“LORD, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. 7 Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? 8 They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, 9 ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.’
10 “But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. 11 See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. 12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”
13 All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the LORD.
14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel.17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’”
18 Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. 19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.

What happened? What happened when they ALLLL pressed into God's heart? Holy Crap people......KINGDOMS were defeated! I'm believing the Lord to bring down the Kingdom of Darkness for my children!

Thank you Lord for your unwillingness for my children to be left out in the darkness. Thank you that you will do whatever it takes to wake a Mama up! Thank you for your love!

Respectfully,
Heather

Bubba's workin' the workin' world!

Alright people! We have a direction....Bubba's looking for a JOB! The Lord's put lots of things in our hearts to do and all of them require CASH! Getting grounded here in Lee's Summit is one, which includes a dog,  upkeep on the house we live in, getting debt FREE so we can buy the house we live in, activities for our children, etc. A second is, Bubba wants to start a sanctioned powerlifting club, take the kids to meets and do mentoring.  We both feel we are to send Heather out to speak on forgiveness to women and mamas and start a clothing exchange for YWAMers in the KC area.
He is trying to find a job that will be during school hours so he can start mentoring/powerlifting club in the evenings. If that doesn't work out, then full on ministry is on hold for a while. He will still be doing one or two shows a month with TX, but not much else.
Thank you for praying last night. We truly do appreciate it!

Bubba and Heather
This is us....RELIEVED!

Thanks for agreeing with us,
Bubba and Heather
I can see the light! Almost there!

BLAZING across Ohio!

We just returned to Lee's Summit Monday after spending 10 days in Ohio traveling from the Dayton/Springfield area to the Zanesville/Dresden area, on to the Chillicothe area and finishing up in Dayton once more.
We had planned the trip to meet new people and broaden our monthly support network. It turned out to be a great time of rest and ministry!
Our first stop was in Springfield to see Pastor Dave and Miss Tina. They own the house we rent in Lee's Summit, what a blessing they are to our family! We are going to continue to rent the house from them until the Lord provides the money to BUY IT! :) Please pray for prosperity in EVERY area of their, and their two daughters, lives.
Our second stop was in New Carlisle, just outside of Dayton, where we stayed with Mr. Mike and Miss Diana. They have been supporting us in MANY ways for 2 years or so. The boys played on their farm, fishing and running with their dogs! Bubba was able to move a couple things for them in their office. And, I was blessed to attend a ladies breakfast with Miss Diana! Great visit
Our third stop was in Dresden, just north of Zanesville.  There we stayed with Dr. Dan and Miss Leslie.  So much fun with this family.....shooting guns, riding Gators, playing with the German Shepard, talking for HOURS, and eating yummy food :)
In Zanesville, I was able to speek at a ladies group of about 20. I shared my story along with challenging the ladies to forgive, love beyond the pain and WALK THROUGH THE FIRE! It was a powerful night to say the least. Several ladies were moved to at least LOOK at the fire and a couple even dared to step in it! Keep praying for full restoration in this group of women.
Bubba was able to do a Bench Press Seminar with a small group of teens at an outreach center in Zanesville. It was a good time of teaching and encouragement for the volunteers as well.
Our fourth stop was Chillicothe where we stayed with Dr. Dan and Miss Roxann. The first night we arrived I spoke at a MOMs group. I encouraged them to remember their dreams. The Lord has big dreams for us Mamas. There was one sweet lady there that needed what I had to offer that night. She is standing at the edge of her FIRE right now, trying to take the first step to get through it. She is an amazing women, I know she will make it! Please pray for her, we will call her Sarah.
Bubba got to ride a HARLEY DAVIDSON while there and I attended another ladies event to bless a local homeless shelter with Miss Roxann. Bubba also started on a new diet regimen to lose 50lbs by August! I thought, what the heck, I might was well lose 40 right along with him! SO, we are eating differently and I'm even heading to the gym! Let's hear it for SKINNY Dowlings! haha
We were blessed to visit with Mr. Al and Miss Linda Coulson while we were in Chillicothe...they are prayer worriers and have prayed for and with us and Team Xtreme for several years now. Such a sweet visit.
We ended our trip with sharing at Living Word Church in Dayton on Sunday morning. They are the largest monthly church supporter and Pastor Pat encourages us SO much. Please join us in praying for transformation to HIT Dayton with Pastor Pat and his congregation leading the way!
The trip didn't end up the way we had planned, but the Lord sure did use us and bless us along the way! We came home with $400 (which actually got us home!) and I picked up a sponsorship-----MARY KAY COSMETICS! What a blessings from the Lord and Miss Jessica. If anyone needs any product, let me know and we will get this lady some business :) :)
It was a fun, rewarding trip. Now, back to school, Powerlifting Club, Pre-marriage counseling, Kids Ablaze, mentoring and starting a couple new mercy missions!
Thanks for checking in,
Heather

Correction/Clarification

I am writing a correction with our Mission Statement for 2011. Bubba WILL be traveling with TX WITHIN the United States. Sorry if there was any confusion. :)
Heather

The NEW plan is hatched!

TeamDowling is taking on new arena's of influence this year and fulfilling dreams the Lord has had in us for a long time.
Matthew 28:19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." The nations the Lord has called us to disciple are not traditional nations. Bubba is called to disciple the nation of men and sons. Heather is called to disciple the nation of women and mothers.
Heather received a word from the Lord a few months ago, "get planted". A trusted friend also received a word from the Lord for our family, "I see you as a stake in the ground here in Kansas City." We are getting planted here by becoming more and more involved in our home church, getting our children involved in activities and starting up ministries here while serving TX in a new capacity.
*Church involvement: Bubba and our two TX guys attend Wednesday night teaching at our home church, CTC. Our boys, Nathan and Luke attend Kids Ablaze on the same night. And, Heather attends a prayer meeting every Thursday with other intercessors from the area.
*Kids activities:  Esther is attending ballet class once weekly! Nathan and Luke will begin Upwards Football this month!
     *New Ministries:
-PowerLifting Club! Bubba is training approx. 45 high school aged boys at Grandview High School. He just attended a meeting yesterday to start working with IHOP and FCA in the school as well! Wow, amazing things happening!
-Clothing Closet! Heather is starting a clothing exchange for local YWAMers. Should be up and running yet this month.
-Bubba has completed his personal training certification through ISSA! He has the opportunity to train people in health, nutrition and strength training. This being another source of income is a bonus too!
-Heather has had many opportunities come up to share with women. She is currently booking more dates.
*We will continue serving Team Xtreme here in the US by discipling the TX team members in Kansas City in the areas of weight training, show fetes of strength, and in sharing their stories. We are also sharing life with two of the single guys living with us now. So, this means Bubba will not be TRAVELING with TX any more.
There you have it folks! New direction for us as a family and for all of you as part of our GoTeam. We are still sharing the gospel with all we are involved with, just in a more intimate way.
Both, Bubba and Heather are looking for more chances to share/teach/train people. Contact us if you have any ideas or people we need to meet!
As always, contact us with any questions. Thank you all for being part of our team, without you all we wouldn't make it through the month, on many levels :)

Unveiling the will of the Lord!

As you know we have been working with Team Xtreme for over 6 years. The first four years or so were part time, as Bubba's work schedule allowed, and the last two plus full time. He has traveled to 5 Nations (I think) and done many US outreaches. Our two year commitment to TX was up in September 2010 and we are looking, diligently, for God's will for our family now.
Bubba and I feel we are to be "planted" and "staked" here in Kansas City, MO. We are unclear on how that fits in with TX. Or, if it does at all.
The veil is opening!
Bubba is currently working with approx. 40 high school boys in a Power Lifting Club four afternoons per week. He is starting a "mentoring" program one day a week at the same school. This has been his dream for YEARS! The Lord's opened this door up HUGE! (Side note: SuperBowl Sunday, three of his boys gave their lives to Jesus at a TX outreach!!!)
The Lord has also put a dream in my heart to start a clothing/stuff exchange for local missionaries/ministries. We have a meeting Wednesday to start the ball rolling!
The kids are doing well in school and have dreams of doing "normal" kid activities too i.e., football, dance...
We want to do WHATEVER the Lord wants us to do. We don't want to miss his will by even one inch! Bubba even fasted yesterday, people! (Side note: Bubba does NOT fast, this was amazing!) We are serious!
Please pray for us to hear CLEARLY from the Lord for this next season. We need ears to hear. We need eyes to see. We need grace for change. We need all the help we can get GoTeam! (that's you)
If you have any scripture for us to read or words of encouragement or possible words from the Lord contact us.
Thanks for standing with us...let's open the veil together for 2011 and jump in!

New additions to the "flock"!

St. Louis Outreach drew them in!

The outreach was designed for the whole family.  As a result, of the 125 in attendance, there was a wide range of ages.  After the fun of strenght feets (all the bricks broke!) and the gospel was preached, 73 people came forward to dedicate their lives to Christ!!!  Good news people, good news!

Week's Highlights!

  • Bubba:  God allowing him to recognize fears that he's had and being able to over come them has been the highlight for Bubba.
  • Heather:  I saw so many fun things this week with the kids (3 snow days).  Watching the boys jump on the trampoline full of SNOW was fun.  Hearing the teasing giggles come from Nathan as he threw snowball at the window in the dining room.  Getting lots of cuddle time with Lukie has been VERY nice. Listening to Esther sing lots of original songs while playing with her dolls is always adorable. And seeing that Miriam is cutting 5 teeth with a sweet smile caught me off guard :)
  • Nathan:  Playing his DS video game extra because of 3 snow days last week was Nathan's favorite part of the week. What was he playing, Lego Batman!
  • Luke: Feeding the birds was Luke's highlight. "I like to put the food out because they are nice."
  • Esther:  Esther is excited to try out a ballet class..."I'm going to stand on the stage, behind the curtain....lots of people will be there......I will love it!" (hehe)
  • Miriam:  Miriam has started attempting to communicate with us verbally! So fun to hear her version of "Tan-too" (Thank you) and "Ba-Ba" (Esther) and MANY, MANY more.
We will post our highlights weekly, trying for Thursdays....keep up with us :)

The Roller Coaster to Brazil.....

The slow climbs and gut-bottoming-out drops of our Brazil experience!

This whole roller coaster ride began with the splendid idea to take four of our children, my wife and myself to Brazil to preach the gospel.  Just like when you are standing in line for a roller coaster it looks REALLY good, from there, far away from the twists and turns, ups and downs, far away from the "true ride".
We started raising money for Passports. Many of you jumped on the ride with us and donated money. When we had enough for the passports we applied and received them quickly.  This part of our journey much resembled the initial take off of a roller coaster, it still seemed like a really good idea and the anticipation is HUGE!
Next we needed money for the Visas, approx. $860. The Lord gave Heather the idea to ask all of our friends of Facebook to give $10. (We would have had more then enough for the whole trip!) She did this and money started coming in, slow but steady. Like the ascend to the top of the first SERIOUS drop on the coaster.  She filled out the paper work for the Visa application and mailed it in as soon as the money came in. This took a little longer and was a much harder climb. We felt like we were heading down a serious "dip" on our ride. After paying the Visa fees, we were back at square one as far as the money goes, nothing for air fare. But, the money did keep trickling in. So, up the next hill we went.
Two days after the applications had been mailed, Heather realized she missed sending part of the paperwork to complete the kids applications. She mailed in what was missing and emailed the Consolate to let them know a package was on the way. She called two days later to check on the status and make sure they had received the rest of the paperwork, they had not. That afternoon the original applications were delivered to our door. With a sheet of paper politely informing us that we didn't complete the paperwork.  This felt like a quick dip on the coaster, the kind that sneak up on you and you have no idea it's coming!
Heather made a phone call to the local Post Office and with their help found out that they had received the package, had signed for it, the time, date and who signed. When Heather called back with this information, she was asked not to call the Consulate again, that they would call us when they found it. So we waited. We waited almost a week. It felt uneasy, like when you are sitting on a ride, just waiting for the drop or whoosh of air signaling that you are heading for SOMETHING and you have NO idea what!
Again, we had reached our goal in the financial area we had air fare. We were at the top of the ascend looking at all the beauty. We still didn't have Visas!  Heather and I decided I should drive to Chicago and fight for our family to get to Brazil.  Heather drove about 30 minutes to get another copy of Miriam's Birth certificate ($15) while I rented a little car ($175). At 5 PM,  I headed to Iowa, JUG of coffee in hand,  to pick up duplicates of the other three birth certificates ($45) and drove onto Chicago. I got there about 5 AM, SEARCHED for an open bathroom, finally finding an open grocery store at 8AM which also had COFFEE! I brushed my teeth in the parking lot, changed my shirt and  headed to the Consolate at 9.  I was FIRST IN LINE!  Good thing, by the time the doors opened, I had 30 to 40 people behind me! By now we were pretty sick of this ride! We all wanted off!
I was in and out by 10:15! We were approved for 10 year Visas! What a high! We were lacking one small piece of paperwork that they said we could bring back when we picked them up in 4 DAYS! AAAWWWW!   Once again one of those drops that sneak up on you! Our whole family was exhausted. So tired of feeling: "We are going!!!!" "No we're not."  "We are going!!!!" "No we aren't." I asked my Aunt and Uncle if they would pick it up for us, they live in Chicago, and over night it to us. They graciously said "Yes". We had the paperwork by Friday.
When I got home from Chicago, we were short the air fare again. We thought we might as well look at the flights, we still had hope. The same day we got our Visas in the mail, we got another $1,000 donated! HUGE HIGH! The ride was looking up! When we set down that night, Friday, to try and book the flight, there were no seats together.........none of us could have even set in the same row. HUGE let down. This ride was seriously starting to stink! We tried to think of ways to ask people to move, maybe just go to the air port and believe God would make a way.....in the end we just couldn't chance NOT having seats with our kids.
We slid into the end of the coaster with me on my  way to Brazil on Sunday and Heather at home with the kid, still feeling a little dazed and confused.
It was a wild ride, worth every minute, long and stressful to say the least. But, look at God's faithfulness in it all. We raised approx. $7,000 in less then 2 months! That is amazing! We now have 10 year Visas! Our faith has grown too.
The trip was great even though only 11 days long. I met lots of interesting people. A highlight was visiting the youth prison. We got to present the gospel to approx. 100 kids, all there for murder or drugs. I met a 15 year old by that asked Bram, our TX leader in Brazil, and myself to pray for him. He said "I just can't stop killing". He had killed 15 people in his 15 years of life. WOW!  He didn't seem any different, but he said thank you for the prayer. I hope his life has taken a turn for the better. He just looked so sad.
Where did the money go? We sent out a message on Facebook and called several people asking what they wanted us to do with their donations. The general response was to do with it whatever the Lord told us to do. So, we paid rent (it was 6 months behind), paid several other utility bills, and bought snow boots and coats for the kids! It was such a learning experience for us, not sure we want that much excitement again trying to get into a country, but still worth it.
Thank you all for helping send the gospel to Brazil, even if it was only me who went. People got touched, saved and delivered because of your gift!

Bubba, Heather, Anna, Nathan, Luke, Esther and Miriam
